Tug

This piece, by Lea Anne Lake, is located at the Clover Park Technical College in Tacoma, Washington.

Lake Art Company designed this piece to be symbolic of how all things are intricately connected. The copper ring in the center is held up by three elements, a Bronze tree, symbolizing the Earth, a Black Cone shape, symbolizing the Universe and a quirky piece symbolizing Humans.

Below, you can see the base of the bronze tree element. This was cast from a real tree, see how realistic it looks?

Here is a close up of the pinecones at the base, they were also cast from life and so are life sized and are solid cast bronze.

Kinetic Cone Symbolizes the Universe. Glass Rivets light up at night like Constellations.
This cone is 18' high and the top rotates in the breeze.

Another view of the Universe piece, the top turns in the wind. you can see the copper ring in the back ground, which symbolizes the 'Tug.'

Bronze ring inset in the ground. There is a paraphrase of a John Muir quote cut into it that is the basis for the piece.

"When one tugs at a single thing in nature he finds that it attached to the rest of the world"

The shadow ring aligns with the metal ring at certain times of the day and year, this further celebrates the intricacy of life and the interconnectedness and sacredness of all things.

The third sculptural totem was designed by another artist and represents the man-made, human principle
